00The Threshold
I am aCreAItiveDirector.
Executive Creative Director · AI Creative Governance · author of Executive CreAItive Direction and CreAItivity.
Every technological shift makes production easier and judgment harder. I design and direct experiential platforms for enterprise brands — from first concept to final walkthrough. When the room matters, I take responsibility for what's in it.

01The Thesis
AI can't build a room you walk into.
The difference between
generating and directing.
Generative AI produces assets. It does not produce direction. There is a difference between generating an image and knowing which image to choose — and what it means when you choose wrong.
Stages, product launches, brand moments — these are environments with real stakes. They require human choice, human accountability, and the kind of judgment that comes from decades of building things that have to work when the lights come on.
AI extends what a creative director can do. It does not replace what a creative director decides.
02Consequence Management
James A. KernCreative direction is consequence management.
Twelve years of direct creative leadership at Adobe. Principal creative direction for Cisco Live. AI film work for Sanofi. Toyota mobile museum programs. Campaigns across major tech, automotive, healthcare, and entertainment brands.
Regardless of scale, the discipline stays the same: design, build, test, learn. The output changes — the rigor doesn't.
